Redress Grievance supports the prohibition of controlled substances. We believe marijuana is at worst a schedule 2 drug, and ought to be left to the states to freely regulate by their own body politic. Redress Grievance believes rapid tests for the presence of marijuana in saliva need to be developed and produced to combat drugged driving, and that DUI laws need updated nationwide to only convict people who are actively high. We believe science can do this today, if the federal government didn’t stifle research into cannabis and its metabolites. Our lobbying efforts also support enforcing the Federal Analogue Act which has gone long ignored by both Federal and State authorities in the fight against designer drugs and equitably assessing priorities in nationwide narcotics interdiction.
We believe in treatment as the model for rehabilitation, not punitive punishment, although we recognize a definite period of incarceration (sometimes a year or two) helps some persons achieve long term recovery post addiction.
